Tourist Attractions in Scotland ...

When you think of Scotland, what image do you conjure up? Mountains? Castles? Lochs? Glens? Whisky? Bagpipes? William Wallace? Mary Queen of Scots? Robert Burns? Golf?

Well, Scotland is – of course – all of these. But it can also be so much more. You may well have seen the Edinburgh Military Tattoo on television, beamed out from the Esplanade at Edinburgh Castle. This is a great castle to visit. But so is Glamis, just an hour north of St Andrews, or Crathes Castle, on Royal Deeside, or Blair Castle, in the Perthshire Highlands, and many more.

We have palaces by the score too. From the famous – Balmoral on the River Dee, the private residence of the Queen when in Scotland, and Holyrood, her official residence in Edinburgh – to the less well-known, but still majestic, such as Scone Palace near Perth or Falkland Palace in Fife.

Lochs abound. Loch Ness and Loch Lomond may be the most celebrated. But Loch Achray in the Trossachs and Loch Tummel above Pitlochry – and many, many others - also have the mystery and the allure to make you catch your breath.

Whisky distilleries, traditional music, literary figures, brave warriors. Scotland has all of these. But it is also a modern, thriving, cosmopolitan country with vibrant, exciting towns and cities, offering great retail, dining and cultural experiences.

Scotland is also golf. And there are certainly plenty of magnificent and challenging courses to play. But take a day off. Or just a half day. See what else Scotland can offer. Perhaps then, the next time you think of Scotland , you will conjure up an image of something completely new.
