Your Travel Guide

STGA Blue Badge Let me tell you a little more about me. My name is Barbara Millar and I am a qualified 'Blue Badge' tourist guide. The ‘Blue Badge’ is an internationally recognised sign of quality and professionalism. It is a University-examined qualification, attained after two years of study and rigorous examination. I am self-employed, fully insured for Public Liability and Professional Indemnity, adhere to a Code of Conduct and Standards of Performance and regularly update my skills.

I was born in England , moving to Scotland in 1997 with my Scottish husband. My original professional background is journalism, but I had always wanted to become involved in tourism and the move north of the border provided me with the perfect opportunity.

I live in the Kingdom of Fife – just a short hop from St Andrews – but also close to Edinburgh and Dundee and only an hour or so from Glasgow and Stirling . I am happy to offer my tours to clients based in most places in Scotland (with the exception of the Northern Highlands and the Islands – a little too far for a day trip!)

Since qualifying as a guide in 2002, I have worked with clients from all over the world. Let me share just a few of their comments about me with you...

‘Thank you for the experience of a lifetime. Barbara is exceptional. She made cold stone structures come alive.’ Margaret Deehan, Florida

‘Barbara is an outstanding guide – very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.’ Sarah Nicholson, Kentucky

‘Thank you for a delightful tour. You were attentive, informative and fun – a joy.’ Al and Lorraine Olsen , New Jersey

‘Barbara is informative, entertaining and caring – I had the most wonderful time.’ Maureen McDonough, New Jersey

‘Barbara, to say you were wonderful is to understate the case. Loved all the historical information and all the insights you provided. We felt we truly got a glimpse of Scotland , yesterday and today.’ Bonnie Binzer and Keith Timms, Texas

‘Barbara, your perspectives and your sparkle made this trip!’ Russ Simpson, Chicago

‘Thank you, Barbara, for making my travels through Scotland such a joy. I love your voice, your laugh and your great knowledge of history.’ Mary Cale Angelelli, Virginia

I hope this has whetted your appetite….now take a look at some of the tours I offer.
